The Academy

Our History

Founded in 1976 in Philadelphia, PA, The Academy of Social Dance has been teaching people from the Philadelphia metropolitan area how to express themselves artistically through social dance for over 30 years.

We are a learning center based in Rittenhouse Square, Philadelphia now opening a new location in Exton. More than just a school, The Academy is a place where you can meet new people and make connections through popular dances like Rumba, Cha Cha, Salsa, and many more.

What sets us apart?

During our 30 years in business, our studio has won best dance studio in Philadelphia Magazine's “Best of Philly” multiple times in addition to being nominated for other regional awards. In addition to our abundant experience, we are proudly under the guidance of Charles "Chuck" Danza, the owner and director of our schools. Chuck is an accomplished former competitive dancer as well as a world-class adjudicator and DVIDA certified examiner.

Through regular training to incorporate the newest techniques and dance steps, Chuck leads a team of highly qualified and certified instructors devoted to teach and guide you through each step at your own pace within a flexible schedule to reach your personal goals.

With our devotion to teaching combined with our unique learning system, our students feel at ease in our exciting and supportive atmosphere and have fun learning the skills of ballroom dancing which provide them a lifetime of enjoyment!
